COMMUNIQUE

Communique on the 2nd day Da'awah training program organized by the Foundation of Integrated Arabic Schools and Islamic Enlightenment (FIASIE), @ Arewa House Kaduna on 23rd & 24th October, 2021.

The two  day da'awah training program was organized from 23rd. to 24th. of October 2021 at Arewa House kaduna on the theme: ' Prevention of Immoderation and Extremism in Islamic Da'awah'.

The program featured different speakers and lecturers amongst, the guest speakers were:

Honourable Ahmad Mukhtar Monrovia, member of house of Representatives, Kaduna South Federal constituency.

Yunus Ustaz Usman SAN.

Keynote lecturers were:

1-Professor Ahmad Jafar Abdulmalik HOD Arabic department ABU Zaria.

2-Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Imam Masjid Al-furqan kano state.

3-Ash-Shaikh Muhammad bn Uthman , Imam Masjid Sa’abah Kano State.

All the lecturers recognized and agreed on the fact that Islam is peace and preaches peace and they questioned the lack of peace in our society today.

One of the speakers included that Islam only means peace through submitting to Allah.

The lecturers recognized Jihad as not meaning holy war but exerting oneself to achieve good purpose. The program also emphasized that the word  Jihad should not be narrowed to taking arms only and when Jihad means taking arms, it is in self defence.

The speakers and lecturers established that a Muslim must be moderate ,he must always take a middle course between extremism and negligence.

The speakers agreed that Islamic Scholars and Muslims generally should participate in the democratic process .Good and religious people should be involved in politics to prevent people with unwholesome behavior from taking over the governance.

Some speakers recognized incompetent and half backed Islamic teachers as the courses of extremism because they mislead their students as the saying goes that "half knowledge is worse than Ignorance" what we are witnessing today like killing in the name of Islam is majorly caused by half-backed scholars and teachers", they misinterpret Qur'an for selfish purpose.

The lecturers encouraged Muslims to seek for more knowledge and seeking knowledge is a lifetime occupation.

Some lecturers advised the government to create employment for the teeming youths to prevent them from joining extremist groups .Idle hand is a devil workshop, most youths joined banditry or kidnapping or extremist groups as a result of idleness.

Corruption is also recognized as one of the causes of extremism .Funds meant for development and eradication of poverty are being embezzled with  impunity. Government should extent more efforts on the fight against corruption.

Fighting extremism requires the consented efforts of the government, individual and non-governmental organizations. Therefore, we should all join hands to combat this ugly friend.
